Grab Text From Screenshot.
Easy Screen OCR for Mac allows you to take a snapshot on your screen and extract text from these images. With its Optical Character Recognition capability, you can get the uncopiable text from digital magazines, posters, pictures, and images captured by a camera. No need to retype words anymore. Just drag and click to complete the conversion process.
Step 1: Download and Launch
Download and install Easy Screen OCR on your Mac. This program is quite small and it only takes less than 2.0 MB. Unlike other “Huge” software, it is quite neat and lightweight.
Launch the App after installation. An icon will show up on your status bar with a welcome notification comes by. This app has no MainWindow and you can click the icon for the next action.
Step 2: Configure preferences
Click “Preference” button to open a new window where you will get three tabs.
- General: You can enable a “beep” sound once you capture a screenshot successfully. You can also allow the popup window sticks to the top and adjust its transparency.
- Shortcuts: Set up your keyboards shortcuts. Click the button first and press the keys combination.
- Local: You can allow the app to save the screenshot as PNG file or PDF file automatically.
Step 3: Start capturing screenshot
Now you can capture the screenshot by using your own shortcut. Alternatively, you can also click the icon on the status bar to start capturing process. Move and drag your mouse cursor to take a screenshot of a selected portion of the screen. After that, a picture window pops up.
Step 4: Start OCR to get the text
Then, click “OCR” button and Easy Screen OCR will transfer your image to base64 code and upload to the Google Cloud. The whole OCR process is based online and that’s why our App is so small in size. Wait for a second, you can expect the editable text show up in the TextFiled. Click “Copy” button to copy the text to the clipboard.
